In this exclusive interview with The Mandate news shortly after Governor Alia's thugs attacked a convoy he was leading after welcoming Presidential candidate of the NDC Peter Obi from the Makurdi Airport, Prof. Terhemba Shija, the party's gubernatoria candidate in Benue State expressed satisfaction over the development, noting that it marks the begining of the end of the administration of Hyacinth Alia. Ques: Your Excellency Prof. Sir. Your convoy escorting NDC Presidential Candidate Peter Obi was reportedly attacked shortly after leaving Makurdi Airport; what does the incident tell you? Shija: This was no allegation. They were led by a known personality, an aide of the Governor and were chanting "No Alia, no Benue!" and "Obi go back, Obi go back!" Now what it all translate to? It means that those who are in the APC, who appear to be in charge of the party in Benue State, do not want people to contest against them in next year's election. They know that they have failed the people and they know that they are going to lose in the next elections. They have been lying to people, they have failed the people, abandoned the people. People have fled from their ancestral lands and are in idp camps; they have abandoned their lands and their lives. There is no life in at least one third of the State. That is what we want to correct,, and the symbol of correction is Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the NDC. Ques: How is your governorship campaign going? Shija: Now that's the thing. The PDP long commenced its campaign in Benue State; so have the ADC, Labour Party and the others. As the NDC gubernatorial candidate, I have not stepped out any day to set up my campaign council, and we've already sent palpable fear through them? It's a very good thing. You see, when you get people cowed, when you get people afraid, you're easily going to defeat them. (to be continued)
