Youth of Benue South Senatorial Zone under the auspices of OchetohaK'Idoma Youth Wing Worldwide have threatened to declare Governor Hyacinth Alia a persona non grata and his administration an enemy of the zone. The youth have threatened to mobilize the entire zone against the Governor in next year's election, adding that they will work day and night to support a candidate against Alia ti ensure that such a candidate "wins massively in all 9 Local Governments of Benue South." Youth of the area expressed their anger in a statement signed by Comrade Magaji Mike Alidu, President, OchetohaK'Idoma Youth Wing Worldwide. In the statement, the Idoma youth expressed deep anger over the "rascality, threat and unjust behaviour displayed by Hon. Terver Gbenda, the SSA to the Executive Governor of Benue State on Illegal Levies and Support Groups" during a recent outing in Otukpo." The statement said inter alia, "We received his outing in Otukpo with shock. How can a Governor's aide leave his comfort zone in Makurdi, come to Otukpo, and indiscriminately warn and threaten Idoma Youths, thinking he can force the entire Benue South to support Governor Hyacinth Alia?" The youth said Gbenda's statement is "an insult to our sensibilities as a people. We feel deeply insulted, belittled and provoked by this action." Warning that Zone C is not a conquered territory, the Idoma Youth threatened to "mobilize our entire structure at home and in diaspora to embark on aggressive voter sensitization to prove that our voting strength is not to be joked with; ensure that any political structure loyal to Gbenda and his collaborators in Zone C is completely dismantled and rejected at the polls", as well as, "present a comprehensive scorecard of the colossal neglect of Zone C by this administration - no roads, no development, no appointments, unlike Zone A and Zone B - and use it to campaign against the government." The youth called on Gbenda to apologize for his disparaging remarks, pointing out, "We have taken note of our Local Government Chairmen and some gullible youths who encouraged, clapped for, and aided Hon. Gbenda to insult us so recklessly in our own land. This betrayal will not be forgotten. When the time comes, they will have themselves to blame. History will record that they invited an outsider to humiliate their own people. We warn them to desist from such sycophancy and cheap politics". The statement added, "Let it be clear that any word from a Governor's appointee is considered a direct message from the Governor and the Government of Benue State. Therefore we hold the Government of Benue State responsible for this insult."
