- By Amina Anebi Kaduna Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the 'Coalition of Arewa Youths for the Atiku Abubakar/Rotimi Amaechi' ticket has promised to mobilize five million votes for the duo which it says is capable of uniting the northern and southern parts of the country. Addressing members of the coalition during a courtesy visit by its executive and women groups from the 19 northern states to the ADC secretariat in Kaduna, Honourable Abba Haruna Ibrahim said Nigerian youths are tired of hardship and want experienced leaders who can restore hope in the country. "We have seen the suffering under the current administration - hunger, insecurity, and unemployment," he declared. "Atiku Abubakar represents experience, economic wisdom, and national unity while Rotimi Amaechi represents courage, infrastructure development and youth inclusion." Ibrahim explained why Abubakar and Amaechi should work together, noting that, "Atiku, a former Vice President with his wide political network and Amaechi, a two-term Speaker, two-term Governor of Rivers State as well as former Minister of Transportation who revived Nigeria's rail system, form a balanced team for a new Nigeria." The group further explained that the north-south combination respects Nigeria's diversity and promotes inclusion as championed by the wider ADC coalition of leaders like David Mark, Nasir El-Rufai, Sule Lamido and others. He emphasized that the ADC's Rescue Agenda prioritizes security, revival of the economy through creating jobs for Arewa youths, as well as restoring the value of the naira. The coalition declared its official adoption of the ADC as its platform, noting that it was in support of Atiku's recent move from PDP to ADC as well as Amaechi's alignment with the coalition as unveiled at Yar'Adua Centre Abuja on July 2, 2025. Honourable Ibrahim expressed the group's appreciation to all supporters of the coalition and called on Nigerians not to relent in support in supporting the Atiku/Amechi 2027 ticket, urging them to eschew vote buying while advising the youth to accept any monies offered to them by politicians, noting that the money belongs to the youth in the first place. The national coordinator of of the coalition Honourable Mammam Madaki Sule, explained the reason for the visit, saying, "We are not supporting Atiku and Amaechi because of tribe or religion. We support them because they have a plan. Atiku has promised restructuring and economic reforms while Amaechi understands infrastructure and youth engagement. This is what Arewa needs." The coalition pledged to mobilize five million young voters across the north through door-to-door campaigns, campus debates, and radio discussions in Hausa, Fulfulde and English for the Abubakar/Amaechi ticket and called on Peter Obi, Kwankwaso and other opposition leaders to join the ADC coalition to present a united front against the APC in 2027.
