On the heels of the recent mega-success of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first five pioneer sets of the school, the trend setting Set 1984 of Command Secondary School Jos Old Students' Association (COJOSA) last weekend elected a new exco to run its affairs following the expiration of the tenure of the last one. The election, which was conducted under the supervision of Reuben Yaktal, former Guv'nor and now Leader of the class, through an online poll adjudged rig-proof, free and fair by all member, threw up the following as the new exco: Aliyu Hassan, Class Guv'nor, Stephen Sha, Deputy Class Guv'nor; Samuel Adzegeh Sec. Gen; Halima Remawa, Treasurer and Olayinka Awe, PRO. In an appreciation speech on behalf of the new exco, Hassan said: "I write on behalf of the newly elected exco of COJOSA Class of 1984 to express profound appreciation to the esteemed members for finding us worthy of serving the class at this point in time. "Our appreciation goes especially to our Class Leader Reuben Yaktal who, as pioneer Guv'nor, laid a strong foundation for the building of a solid class organization. The achievements of that exco need no repeating here but it suffices to recall that it set the pace for COJOSA reunions, a feat which was recently not only replicated, but greatly improved upon by the five Pioneer sets at its massively successful reunion. Reuben's ingenuity and personal sacrifices are also responsible for the free and transparent process which birthed this exco. We thank him profusely. "Our thanks also go to the Charles Uwechia-led exco which succeeded Reuben's and, in spite of daunting challenges, consolidated and improved in further stabilizing the class. "We must also thank our classmates who offered to or were nominated to serve the class but who, because we cannot all serve in the exco at the same time, God has decided that they tarry a while. This exco opens its arms to you all as unofficial exco and solicits your assistance in all we do. "This appreciation will not be complete without extending it to each and every member of this wonderful class who has, in his own particular way, contributed to making the class the success story it is. I am certain that with your demonstrated and usually selfless prayers, advice and other support, this exco shall also contribute its humble quota towards further strengthening our class. "Lastly, I want to use this forum to call on all 84-setters wherever they may be to join this childhood fraternity; childhood classmates are veritable family members. We miss you all and want you here with us. Whatever the challenges that you are going through, I appeal that you please come back to the class. I assure you all that there is not a challenge that we cannot overcome if we stick together. After all, we are COJOSAns. Thank you all and may almighty God continue to bless us all." Signed: Gen. Aliyu Hassan (retired) Class Guv'nor 12/10/2026.
