Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume has commended the Ipav community of Gboko Local government, Benue State for its support for the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led federal government. Akume spoke yesterday during the burial of late Mama Haanivaa Num Hundu Bunde, mother of Terrence Kuanum, Special Adviser, Public Affairs in the SGF's office. The SGF, represented by Special Adviser Legal, Office of the SGF, Barr. Isaac Shima Vembeh thanked the community for remaining supportive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and charged the people to work harder for Tinubu's reelection in order to continue to enjoy more democratic dividends. He was accompanied by Hon. Terlumun Kete, SA on Special Duties, Office of the SGF, Benjamin Usende, associate of the SGF and Hon. Nyimkor Patrick Hyua, another of the SGF's associate. Others were, Joseph Oto, Head of Civil Defence, Office of the SGF and Sunday Attah, representing Controller General, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). Earlier, president general of Ipav Development Association IDA), Dr. Ayila Iorbee conveyed the community's unalloyed support for the President. He said the declaration became necessary given recent positive developments in Ipav community and Jemgbagh bloc at large. "Your Excellency sir, I want to use this opportunity to appreciate you for your humane disposition and generosity towards my people. It is on record that you have always given Ipav very special consideration, beginning from your days as the Executive Governor of Benue State when key government positions were occupied by Ipav sons and daughters. Today again, you have demonstrated this uncommon show of love, by graciously using your privileged position to cause the restoration of Gboko East Constituency III, which is exclusively reserved for Ipav." Ayila also mentioned the appointments of Barr. Cosmos Akighir as Chairman, North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Terrence Kuanum as Special Adviser on Public affairs and the recent award of contract by the federal government for the construction of an airstrip in Ipav. Pledgingnthe community's support for Akume, the IDA president noted, "The entire Ipav community remains indebted to you for finding us worthy of this enduring kind gesture. We pledgie our total commitment to your ideals, beliefs and every other thing you stand for." Also speaking, member representing Gboko East in the Benue State House of Assembly, Chief Hon. Mrs. Becky Torkwase Orpin, represented by Dr. Barnabas Mnenga extolled the leadership qualities of Sen. George Akume, stating that his humility and steadfast commitment to progress and development of the people has stood him out as an uncommon leader.
