Hundreds of members of the All Progressives Congress in Kumbotso local government of Kano State last Sunday defected to the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections, reports The Whistler, an online news publication. According to the publication, the defectors, mostly youths, were formally received into the NDC by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Rabiu Fasaha, alongside Captain Nafe, the party’s House of Assembly candidate for Kumbotso in a ceremony that was described by party officials as a significant boost to the NDC’s growing presence in the local government area, with the new members pledging their commitment to the party and its programmes. Addressing the gathering, Fasaha said the wave of defections reflected the increasing acceptance of the NDC among young people in the state. He assured the new members of equal opportunities, stressing that they would be fully integrated into the party’s activities and leadership structure. Also welcoming the new members, Captain Nafe urged them to strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls and reiterated that the NDC remains committed to youth empowerment and people-focused representation.
