Jos, capital of Plateau State, home of peace and tourism is soon to erupt into celebration as arrangements are in top gear for the reunion of pioneer sets of Command Secondary School Jos fifty years after the school graduated its first set in 1982. The highly publicized event is scheduled for the end of September and already, a frenzy of excitement has gripped the alumni of the pioneer sets with hundreds indicating their readiness to attend from as far away as Europe and the United States. The Central Planning Committee (CPC) explains that the event was initiated so that pioneers could remember the can-do spirit of their alma-mater in hopes of rekindling same in all other alumni of the school. The committee assures that arrangements for travelling and accommodation are at advanced stage to ensure a hitch-free re-union which is being promoted as 'more than just the usual re-union. It is a celebration of our beginnings, our bonds and the values that continue to shape our lives and communities.' True to the hype, the event promises to be epoch-making as it would for the first time since finishing from the school, members of the first five sets have an opportunity to see one another and reminisce about their school days in Jos. With most over 60 years old today, the pioneers eagerly look forward to the re-union as it probably may be the last opportunity for many to meet face to face.. Members of the pioneer sets of Command Secondary School Jos are known to have set a dizzying standard, producing world beaters in various fields of endeavour including captains of industry, world class sports personalities, media practitioners/entrepreneurs, academic giants as well as prominent politicians some who have contested for or have been appointed to political offices across the nation. Many are to be honored at the reunion. A pioneer Olayinka Awe aptly captures the mood when she enthused on the re-union whatsapp platform, "Seeing all the pictures posted already gives the vibe to be expected at the Reunion. For sure, it's going to be a continuity, but on a grander scale, of these gatherings as has been going on. Kudos guys, for remaining in touch through the decades. Reunion, here we come!"
