Political reality may be fast dawning on Benue Governor Hyacinth Alia as he faces more isolation the nearer the 2027 elections approach. This comes after the Governor's failure to force through his list of Benue APC's national assembly candidates following a review of primaries conducted in the state by the party's appeal panel. The review resulted in the replacement of at least fourteen candidates from the Alia faction with those from the Akume faction. The governor's free fall from political grace continued yesterday as prominent names from his faction of the Benue APC, led by Hon. Emmanuel Jime swelled the ranks of the Akume faction. Prominent among them are: Chief Nelson Alapa; Douglas Pepe (SAN), Senatorial Aspirant zone A; Engr Peter Ashiekaa; Clement Beetseh, a former Makurdi local Government Chairman of Feed Africa fame; former commissioners Joy Luga and Ann Itodo as well as Barr Martins Shaagee. Others are Prof Usar Joseph, Prof Cephas Tushima, Chief Patrick Idoko, Hon Patience Akor, Hon Fred Idoko, Hon Lawrence Ekpo Onoja Jnr, Hon Andrew Abah, Hon Agbo Innocent Ikwumonu, Hon Simon Omachoko, Hon David Egboja, and Dr John Garba.
