Spokesperson for the senatorial campaign of former Director-General of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Mike Omeri, Hajiya Maryam Osuza, has described him as the best candidate for the development of Nasarawa South Senatorial district, adding that the 2027 election offers the people the opportunity to elect a leader capable of uniting the zone and providing effective representation at the National Assembly. Ozuza who spoke in Lafia during her inauguration as Omeri's campaign spokesperson yesterday described her new role as a call to service and pledged to lead an issue-based, peaceful and people-oriented campaign anchored on competence, integrity and development, stressing that the campaign is about restoring public confidence in leadership and ensuring that the people of Nasarawa South have a strong voice in national decision-making. She pointed out that the district faces challenges including youth unemployment, insecurity affecting farmers, poor rural roads, inadequate support for women, and the need to improve education and healthcare. She said that the zone requires a representative with the experience, integrity and national influence to attract meaningful development. “The people of Nasarawa South deserve a senator with proven competence, integrity, national acceptance and the experience to attract opportunities to our land. That person is Dr. Mike Omeri,” she declared. Osuza described Omeri as a seasoned public servant who has spent more than three decades building relationships across political, ethnic and religious divides, adding that many indigenes of Nasarawa State have benefited from opportunities, mentorship and appointments facilitated through his national network. She also disclosed that Omeri believes in inclusive leadership and is committed to serving all communities across the district equally. “Whether you are from Awe, Doma, Keana, Lafia or Obi Local Government Area, whether you are Christian or Muslim, whether young or old, Dr. Mike Omeri sees only one people with one common destiny,” she proclaimed. Osuza thanked Omeri for the confidence reposed in her and assured party members and supporters that she would carry out her assignment with honesty, professionalism and dedication. “I accept this responsibility with humility, dedication and a deep sense of duty. I assure Dr. Mike Omeri and his political associates that I will discharge this assignment with honesty, professionalism and unwavering commitment,” she declared, assuring that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign would focus on issues affecting the people rather than politics of division. “We shall conduct an issue-based, peaceful and respectful campaign. We will not campaign on the basis of hatred, falsehood or division. We shall campaign on ideas, competence, character and a clear vision for the future,” she said. The spokesperson appealed to traditional and religious leaders, women, youths, professionals, artisans, farmers and students across the senatorial district to support Omeri’s aspiration, maintaining that he possesses the leadership experience and capacity required to deliver quality representation.
