Prolonged anxiety among the rank and file of members of the Benue State chaptermof the NDC finally came to an end yesterday with the party's disclosure that Prof Terhemba is its gubernatorial candidate for Benue State in next year's elections. This came to light after the party's expanded Executive Council meeting in Makurdi. In a press statement signed by Agile Ordedoo Bem, its State Publicity Secretary, and made available to The Mandate, the Benue NDC noted that a committee from its national headquarters chaired by Mr Jenkins Gwede had since May 28, 2026 conducted the party's primaries which threw up Shija and candidates representing the party in next year's general elections and requested the electoral body to upload their names to its portal without further delay. Briefing party members, State Chairman of the party Mr. Ohini Ojegbe explained that both INEC and the State Working Committee of the party had monitored its primary elections where Prof. Shija emerged governorship candidate, with Dr Raymond Edoh, his runner up was proposed as deputy. Ojegbe appreciated the national leadership of the party for amicably resolving issues relating to National Assembly candidates and expressed optimism that similar attention would be given to concerns surrounding governorship and State Assembly candidates. The expanded EXCO unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Chairman on the State Chairman and the entire State Working Committee for their honest and peaceful leadership of the party in the state.
