Embattled Chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu Femi Gbajabiamila was yesterday (Monday July 20) grilled at the Abuja headquarters of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over his role in the scandal surrounding a purported Federal government agency which the latter has since denied does not exist. The Chief of staff was at the ICPC headquarters about 3 'clock in the afternoon. His appearance followed invitation by the anti-corruption agency investigating the activities of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Gbajabiamila's lawyer, Jite Ogunye confirmed the development in a statement saying, “In full cooperation with the ICPC acting as directed by the President of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and appeared at about 15:00hrs on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the ‘PFIPC’ fake agency, among others,” Ogunye said, adding, “My client gave his testimony, responded to questions accordingly, and has returned to his duty post.” Following intense pressure from both national and international bodies, President Tinubu had, on July 2, directed the ICPC to launch a thorough investigation into the PFIPC scandal which has opened a flood of other scandals and currently threatens Tinubu's Presidency. SaharaReporters last week reported that Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly paraded himself as the Director-General of PFIPC), was arrested by the police following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
