Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Benue State in next year's governorship election Prof. Terhemba Shija has pledged his total commitment to work diligently toward providing purposeful leadership for Benue State that will usher in true development in the State. Reacting to the confirmation of his emergence as the party's candidate, Shija thanked the State Working Committee, its National Working Committee as well as stakeholders and the Benue NDC family for the confidence reposed in him, and pledged not to disappoint the party and its supporters. He appealed to those who contested with him for the position to regard his emergence as a collective victory and join hands with him to strengthen the party ahead of the general elections. Benue State Chairman of the party, Ohini Ojegbe, State Leader, Prof. Isaac Onyike, and other key stakeholders had earlier visited the party’s National Secretariat to obtain Shija's nomination form, thus “bringing to a close all issues surrounding the party’s governorship candidature in Benue State”, a statement by the Benue State Publicity Secretary, Agile Ordedoo Bem, said. Benue NDC Chairman, Ohini Ojegbe, confirmed that the process, which had been delayed following intra-party disagreements, was finally resolved. Ojegbe called on other aspirants to demonstrate the spirit of sportsmanship by rallying behind Shija to work for the party's victory in the 2027 governorship election. “The party is further pleased to inform its members and the general public that Prof. Terhemba Shija’s name has been successfully uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal as the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate for Benue State” the statement stated.
