Ques: What do you most remember about Command? Ans: To me it was the day Mr Omenuko caught 38 of us that sneaked out to go and watch 'The 36 Chamber of Shaolin'. I'll never forget that day. We got caught because of Moses Ifarome. He was the one Mr Omenuko recognized as he was sneaking out and that led to an emergency roll call that resulted in 38 of us being identified as missing from school. Ques: I remember you were into Shot put and volleyball back then... Ans: (cuts in) I was actually into hockey and volley ball. I just had a passion for the games. I delved into shot put when we travelled to Azare in Bauchi State for All Federal Government Colleges Games and there was no one to throw shot put for Command. I and Mike Nwokocha volunteered and he came first while I came second. We felt confident that we could do it and that was it. Ques: You were always around senior students; why was that so? Ans: Yes, most of my friends used to be seniors because I was as big as them. Infact whenever I was in their midst and they wanted to send a junior student they will say "Gberindyer, you're too big", and they will end up calling other juniors, sometimes my mates who were smaller in size, to send. My friends were mostly members of the group then known as Seven Man Army which comprised of Isaac Danladi, Shedrack Mbakwe, Jude Unuoha, Peter Anyebe, Paul Anyebe, Ter Akaa and Chibueze Nwokabia; hope I got the names correctly. I can say I'm still close to Peter Anyebe, Paul Anyebe and Isaac Danladi. Ques: Which of these did you participate in back in Command - 'action'; sneaking for film watching in town; orchard adventures? Ans: (cuts in)... all of the above. You didn't mention sneaking to attend parties at Naraguta and Pivotal Teachers College opposite our school as well as a couple of boogies in town. This was because of my relationship with Seven Man Army; anywhere they went I'll also be there except smooching of babes in dark corners. Ques: Can you remember two of your favourite and two of your most unfavourite teachers, and why? Ans: My favourite teacher was Mrs Anyanwu, our music teacher. I loved her even though I was a young boy and she liked me because I was the best pianist in my set. The other person was Mr Cyril Eboh (Cumbersome). I liked the way he bounced around during his classes. My least favourable was Mr Uwakwe, my boarding master and CRK teacher. I guess he didn't like me because he felt I was notorious. The second person I never really liked was Mr Awodeyi who taught us Maths with 'ogboju' and I hardly liked Maths even though I was a science student. He made me to hate the subject. Ques: What happened to you after leaving Command Jos? Ans: After finishing from Command, I sat for JAMB but whatever happened that my name didn't come out I don't know, and I was desperate to go to school so instead of staying at home I got admission into Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa where I started my architecture training. Ques: Why didn't you pursue a career in sports like many others? Ans: I didn't pursue a career in sports because sports wasn't really my interest. I loved sports then because it took us around. I loved travelling and sports at Command Jos took me to Command Kaduna, Command Ibadan, Azare in Bauchi State and many other places within and outside Jos. Ques: Given your experience, what is your advice to young ones just leaving school? Ans: My advise would be that they should learn a skill or a trade apart from their school certificate. It will help them. Ques: If you could turn back the clock, would you still choose to attend Command Jos? Ans: Definitely If I had a choice I will choose Command again and again. Everything about me started at Command; we were like one family. I loved Command more than my home, I swear. I stillmiss Command and all of my seniors, classmates and juniors. We were just good to go anyway. Ques: Looking back, what would you say is your biggest regret in life? Ans: I don't have any. Ques: ...and your positive turning point in life? Ans: My positive turning point? Hmmm..., let's leave it the way it is. Ques: What are your expectations at the 50th reunion? Ans: I really don't want to talk about that now but I hope to be there to see how it's gonna be, but I must be sincere, COJOSA no freak me one bit.
