Professor Terhemba Shija, Benue State NDC gubernatorial candidate and the party's national assembly candidates in next year's elections have reaffirmed total commitment to providing purposeful leadership that prioritizes the security, welfare and overall prosperity of Benue people. This came when the NASS candidates paid a solidarity and congratulatory visit on the gubernatorial candidate in Abuja over the weekend as the party moves to strengthen internal unity towards charting a common front for the political and socio-economic advancement of Benue State. Shija asserted that the protection of Benue’s territorial integrity and ancestral lands remains the fundamental responsibility of government. He assured that his administration, if elected, would pursue lawful, decisive, and sustainable measures to protect lives and property while defending the legitimate interests of Benue people. He appreciated the National Assembly candidates for the visit, noting that the party's political mission must remain firmly anchored on service to the people. “We will protect the sovereignty and the lives of our people. There will be no compromise on the protection of our land and the legitimate rights of our people. We must protect our communities, our heritage and our future through every lawful and responsible means available to government,” he declared. The visit underscored the importance of unity among NDC candidates at all levels as the party prepares for the 2027 elections, with all agreeing to work for the overall interest of the NDC and the people of Benue State.
